July Labor Force Statistics Announced: Unemployment Rate Was 8.1 Percent
According to the latest data shared by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the unemployment rate increased in July, while the 2025 GDP figures became official.
The Turkish Statistical Institute officially shared the July 2026 labor force data and the annual independent GDP figures for 2025 with the public.
July Unemployment Rates
Across Turkey, the number of unemployed persons aged 15 and over increased by 150,000 in July compared to the previous month.
According to official calculations, the total number of unemployed reached 2 million 860 thousand people, and the unemployment rate was realized at 8.1 percent.
Employment and Youth Population Data
In the July period, the unemployment rate in the youth population rose by 1.5 percentage points to 14.5 percent.
The number of employed individuals decreased by 388,000 to 32 million 362 thousand, while the idle labor force rate became 30.6 percent.
2025 Growth Figures
The independent annual GDP data for 2025 announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute increased by 3.7 percent according to the chained volume index.
According to the production method, gross domestic product at current prices increased by 41.6 percent and was calculated as 63 trillion 240 billion 524 million liras.
Sectoral Developments and Income Per Capita
In 2025, GDP per capita at current prices was realized at 714 thousand 682 liras, meaning 18 thousand 103 dollars.
While the construction sector recorded the highest growth rate last year with 11 percent, labor force payments increased by 40 percent.
