Legal Recourse Open for Medications Not Covered by the Social Security Institution
The Minister of Labor and Social Security stated that citizens can resort to legal measures for treatments and medications that fall outside the scope of the SSI.
It has been announced that patients can apply to the judiciary regarding medications and treatments not covered by the Social Security Institution. In urgent cases, courts can issue preliminary injunctions or stays of execution.
Medication Reimbursement Processes
For a medication to be included in the reimbursement scope by the Social Security Institution, the pharmaceutical company must first make an official application to the Institution.
These applications are meticulously evaluated by the relevant commissions and decided upon.
Procurement of Medications from Abroad
Medications that do not have a license within the borders of Turkey, cannot be produced, or cannot be supplied in the market can be imported from abroad.
These medications procured from abroad are also included in the reimbursement scope after passing through the evaluations of authorized commissions.
Judicial Path and Court Decisions
Patients have the right to apply to judicial authorities regarding medications and treatments that the Social Security Institution does not cover.
In cases where the patient's condition is of an urgent nature, courts can issue preliminary injunction or stay of execution decisions.
