New Economic Alliance Process Started Between Turkey and Syria

During his contacts in Damascus, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat drew attention to the economic integration between the two countries and announced that regional cooperation will expand.

Speaking at the Turkey-Syria Trade Delegation and Bilateral Business Meetings held in Damascus, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat stated that commercial ties between the two countries are strengthening and a new economic alliance is beginning to emerge in the Middle East.

Summit Held in Damascus

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat gave messages regarding the future of commercial and economic relations between the two countries at the Turkey-Syria Trade Delegation and Bilateral Business Meetings held in Damascus. Reminding that the 63rd International Damascus Fair will open in Damascus, Bolat announced that they arrived with a delegation of 200 business people from Turkey.

Institutional Steps and Agreements

Touching upon the institutional steps between the two countries, Minister Bolat conveyed that the Customs Cooperation Agreement was signed, the Committee on Economy and Trade was established, and cooperation between central banks is ongoing. He also noted that they expect positive developments regarding the establishment of Turkish banks in Syria.

Transit Trade and New Corridors

Pointing out regional logistics and trade routes, Bolat stated that the transit trade corridor extending to Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and other Gulf countries has been opened and that the ministries of transportation have signed agreements.

Mecca Agreement and Regional Alliance

Touching upon the recently signed Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, Bolat stated that an economic alliance is beginning to emerge between the Middle East, Gulf countries, and Turkey-Syria, and that the security alliance will expand.

Customs Gate Developments

Minister Bolat also announced that they received a promise from the Syrian side regarding the opening of the Nusaybin-Qamishli Customs Gate by the end of the year.
