With the regulation issued by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the validity period of open tickets provided during train service disruptions has been reduced to 90 days.
Under the new regulation prepared by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the validity period of open tickets held by passengers whose train services are canceled or delayed has been reduced from 180 days to 90 days, and administrative fines for rule violations have been reorganized.
Open Ticket Validity Regulation
The new regulation, which entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette, directly affected the usage period of open tickets granted to passengers in cases of service delays or cancellations.
Validity Period Cut in Half
As a result of the legal amendment, the minimum open ticket validity period, which was previously applied as 180 days, was shortened and dropped to 90 days.
Administrative Fines Renewed
Administrative fines to be applied for practices contrary to railway passenger rights have also been reorganized and established within a clear framework.
Defects Subject to Penalties
In the event that a violation of the regulation is detected, operators will be fined 9,473 Turkish Liras for each individual defect, such as failing to provide assistance to disabled passengers and avoiding baggage responsibility.
Scooters Added to Vehicle Definition
The scope of the definition regarding vehicles used in railway transportation was expanded, and the terms scooter and electric scooter were included in the legislation.
Scooter Transportation Rules
The addition of new vehicles to the definition does not mean that every electric scooter will be unconditionally allowed on trains; the rules and safety conditions determined by operators will continue to remain valid.
