People's Assembly Economy Committee Discusses Import and Export Decisions
Steps regarding the suspension of lemon imports and the extension of the apple import ban were discussed at the committee meeting.
The People's Assembly Economy Committee met in Damascus to discuss the decisions made by the National Import and Export Committee to suspend lemon imports and extend the apple import ban.
Economy Committee Meeting Held
The People's Assembly Economy Committee met to review the decisions made by the National Import and Export Committee regarding the import of certain food items.
At the meeting, chaired by Committee Head Lina Ayzuki and attended by the majority of members, issues related to imports and customs duties were addressed.
Import and Tax Issues Discussed
In a statement issued by the Assembly, it was stated that customs duties applied to raw materials and steps that could be taken to strengthen industrialists were evaluated during the meeting.
Additionally, efforts to review laws regarding the renewal of the commercial register and to develop joint solutions with other relevant committees were pursued.
Import Bans and Calendar Details
The National Import and Export Committee had decided in September to extend the ban on apple imports until the end of November.
The committee had also decided, based on the approved agricultural calendar and to protect domestic production, to suspend lemon imports between October 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027.
