Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Chinese President Xi Jinping within the scope of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit, stating that cooperation between the two countries is developing in all areas, including economy and energy.
Meeting within the Scope of the Summit
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a bilateral meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
Speaking at the press-open part of the meeting, Putin emphasized that the relations between the two countries are progressing in a strategic dimension and have a strong foundation.
Economy and Energy Projects
Putin stated that cooperation between the two countries continues successfully in many areas, primarily the economy, and that major projects are being implemented in energy, industry, space, transport, and logistics sectors.
Recalling that a Chinese container ship started its first regular voyage via the Northern Sea Route in mid-August, the leader noted that mutual agricultural product trade increased by 34 percent.
Developments in Technology and Tourism
Stating that digital innovations such as artificial intelligence technologies offer new opportunities for economic development, Putin conveyed that Russia aims to work jointly with China in this field.
It was reported that tourist mobility between the two countries increased by 43 percent in the first half of the year thanks to the visa-free travel practice, and it was stated that they are ready to work together to make the practice permanent.
Geopolitical Assessments
It was emphasized that under current challenging geopolitical conditions, the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between the two countries serve as an example for interstate relations.
It was evaluated that these relations are based on deep-rooted traditions of friendship, respect for sovereignty, equality, and mutual benefit.
