Record Level Reached in IPO Size in the First 8 Months of the Year

In the first eight months of the year, amid a tight monetary policy environment and rising financing costs, companies' interest in capital markets reached its peak, and a total of 34 companies went public.
New Record in IPO Size
In the first 8 months of the year, 34 companies went public, and the size of these offerings reached a record level with 83.8 billion liras.
Previously, in 2023, 54 companies had broken a record with 79.3 billion liras. The total amount of demand for the public offerings realized this year was 355.9 billion liras.
Investor and Application Data
Shares were sold to a total of 25.8 million investors in this year's public offerings.
According to Capital Markets Board data, 119 companies applied for public offerings and new priority criteria were published.
General Table of Recent Years
In the period from 2021 to the end of August of this year, a total of 232 companies realized public offerings.
The total size of the public offerings in this period was recorded as 308.6 billion liras, and the total demand received was 1 trillion 440 billion liras.
Performance of the IPO Index
While the BIST 100 Index on Borsa Istanbul rose by 28.8 percent in the last 12 months, the increase in the IPO index reached 168.6 percent.
Since the beginning of the year, while the BIST 100 showed an increase of 30 percent, the IPO index exhibited a performance well above the market average.
CMB's New Priority Criteria
The Capital Markets Board published a new principle decision regarding the criteria to be given priority in finalizing public offering applications.
Applications of companies that meet the determined criteria and make a request can be finalized with priority, without being subject to the queue.
Conditions within the Scope of Priority
Being the first company to be traded on the stock exchange in the city where its headquarters is located and where it provided more than 50 percent of its revenue in the last 5 years was among the priorities.
Having management control in public institutions, exceeding a market value of 15 billion liras, and compliance with international regulations will also be evaluated with priority.
