As the university registration period approaches and students scramble for accommodation, rents across Istanbul have increased by up to 80% compared to last year. Real estate agents noted that even old buildings in central districts are being offered for high rental prices and issued warnings against new tactics by landlords.

Registration Period and Accommodation Scramble

While the electronic registration process for newly admitted university students has been completed, young people's search for accommodation has gained momentum with little time left before in-person registrations end.

High Rent Increases in Istanbul

Residential rents across Istanbul have seen an increase of approximately 80% compared to last year, with prices climbing particularly in central districts such as Kadıköy, Beşiktaş, and Şişli.

It was observed that apartment prices in the Beşiktaş region, which were 25,000 liras last year, rose up to 45,000 liras this year, and due to high demand, prices for even old buildings start from this figure.

Urban Transformation Warning from Real Estate Agents

Real estate sector representatives pointed out that some landlords continue to rent out apartments even when their buildings have entered the urban transformation process, warning students against this danger.
