Trade Minister Ömer Bolat Visits Industrial Zone in Aleppo

As part of the 63rd Damascus International Fair and the Syria General Trade Delegation program, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat traveled to Aleppo to conduct inspections at the Sheikh Najjar Organized Industrial Zone and emphasized that cooperation between the two countries will be strengthened.

Historic Visit to Aleppo

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, along with his accompanying delegation, visited the Sheikh Najjar Organized Industrial Zone located in the city of Aleppo, Syria.

During his contacts in the region, Minister Bolat became the first foreign minister to visit the city since the regime change in Syria in December 2024.

The Role of Aleppo in the Syrian Economy

Stating that Aleppo has a strong industrial infrastructure and a strategic location, Bolat expressed that the city works closely with Turkey in the fields of production and trade.

Officials noted that Turkey contributes to the stability and peace environment established in northern Syria, and this situation accelerates the development of economic activities.

Customs Gates and Transit Trade

Reminding that there is a border line of approximately 910 kilometers between the two countries, Minister Bolat stated that modernization and capacity-increasing works at the customs gates have been accelerated.

While these infrastructure investments are expected to directly contribute to the development of mutual trade, partnerships are being established in many areas ranging from energy to transportation.

Damascus International Fair and Trade Delegation

Within the framework of the 63rd Damascus International Fair held in Damascus, the Syria General Trade Delegation program was carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Trade.

While this organization, attended by approximately 200 business people, aimed to strengthen ties between the Turkish and Syrian business worlds, 33 Turkish companies opened stands at the fair.
