Turkey Plastic Waste Workshop Begins in Istanbul with Broad Participation
At the workshop held in Yeşilköy, the fight against plastic pollution, circular economy, and sustainability goals were discussed with a multi-stakeholder approach.
Implemented within the scope of the Zero Waste for the Future – Common Sense Platform, the Turkey Plastic Waste Workshop opened its doors with high participation at a hotel in Yeşilköy, Istanbul.
Start of the Workshop
The Zero Waste for the Future – Common Sense Platform Turkey Plastic Waste Workshop was implemented at a hotel in Yeşilköy, Istanbul, under the auspices of Zero Waste Movement founder Emine Erdoğan.
The program aims to make a strong contribution to Turkey's strategic goals in the fields of combating plastic pollution and the circular economy.
Participation of Prominent Figures
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy attended the meaningful program hosted by the Zero Waste Foundation.
Additionally, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and Zero Waste Foundation President and COP31 High-Level Climate Champion Samed Ağırbaş took part in the meeting.
Main Theme and Scope
The meeting is being conducted under the main theme 'Turkey that Reduces Waste, Prevents Pollution: Clean Environment, Strong Economy, Safe Food, Healthy Generations.'
The main framework of the workshop is shaped in line with the country's environmental policies and the goals of protecting future healthy generations.
Interinstitutional Cooperation
The organization is carried out with the participation of a total of 17 ministries and the institutions operating within these ministries at various stages of the plastic cycle.
The plastic cycle is addressed with a common sense and multilateral cooperation approach by all stakeholders undertaking roles within the process.
Thematic Blocks and Tables
Comprehensive planning was carried out within the scope of the event to ensure a holistic evaluation of the plastic cycle.
In this context, four main thematic blocks and 15 separate working tables were established to allow evaluations to be made throughout the program.
Future Goals
Throughout the two-day program, which will also continue tomorrow, strategies aimed at preventing environmental pollution are being examined in depth.
The results obtained will provide long-term direction to Turkey's environmental management and sustainable economic policies.
