Turkish Economy Records 2.3 Percent Growth in the Second Quarter
According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the country's economy grew by 2.3 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of the year.
The Turkish Statistical Institute announced the Gross Domestic Product results for the second quarter covering the April-June period of the year. Accordingly, the Turkish economy grew by 2.3 percent in the second quarter, while the uninterrupted growth process has continued for 24 quarters.
Second Quarter GDP Results
According to the data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the gross domestic product estimate at current prices according to the production method in the second quarter of the year recorded an increase of 36 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
During this period, the total GDP value at current prices reached the level of 19 trillion 869 billion 747 million lira, while its equivalent in US dollars was calculated as 438 billion 347 million dollars.
Consumption and Foreign Trade Items
Resident households' final consumption expenditures increased by 3.5 percent in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the same period, government final consumption expenditures decreased by 1.8 percent, exports of goods and services decreased by 3.4 percent, and imports decreased by 6.4 percent.
Income Distribution and Employment Developments
According to the official data released, labor compensation experienced an increase of 36.7 percent over a one-year period, while net operating surplus and mixed income rose by 38.7 percent.
TSI data also included the information that, despite the continuation of the growth trend in the economy, general unemployment rates increased.
