US President Donald Trump announced the establishment of a special investigation committee to examine allegations that Federal Reserve Board Member Lisa Cook made false statements in mortgage documents.

Establishment of the Investigation Committee

US President Donald Trump has formed an investigation committee to look into allegations that Federal Reserve Board Member Lisa Cook made false statements in connection with one or more mortgage documents. According to the White House statement, the committee will include the President's Deputy Assistant for Economic Policy, the Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Director of the Office of Government Ethics.

Hearing Scheduled for November 5

The hearing to evaluate the evidence and allegations against Cook will be held at the White House on November 5. The session will be conducted behind closed doors but will be transcribed. Cook will be able to submit her written statement following the hearing to the committee until November 10.

Dismissal and Legal Process

US President Trump had previously shared a letter he wrote to Cook on his social media account last year, announcing that he was removing her from office with immediate effect. Cook filed a lawsuit to block Trump's initiative, and Washington District Judge Jia Cobb ruled that the allegations did not constitute sufficient cause, temporarily blocking Cook's firing.

Supreme Court Stage

The Trump administration's requests to stay the lower court's decision were rejected by the appeals court, and the case was taken to the Supreme Court. After hearing oral arguments from both sides in January, the US Supreme Court ruled in June that Cook could remain in her position during the litigation process.
