Microsoft founder Bill Gates warned that alongside the great potential offered by artificial intelligence, the transition period will experience severe difficulties in economic, social, and security areas. Unlike innovations like the personal computer in the past, it was stated that thanks to artificial intelligence using natural language and running on existing devices, the adaptation process will be much faster and more disruptive.

Reminding that past technological transitions took several generations, Gates expressed that the artificial intelligence wave will rapidly impact sectors within a very short timeframe such as a decade.

He noted that current economic and geopolitical incentives are driving this process full speed ahead and that a global plan to slow it down globally is not foreseen.

It was emphasized that with the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence, entry-level and mid-level jobs in fields such as sales, customer support, software engineering, and law could disappear.

Additionally, it was stated that smart robots will begin to compete with workers in physical sectors such as construction and hospitality in the future, creating serious turmoil for both white-collar and blue-collar workers.

It was stated that artificial intelligence will make harmful activities such as cyberattacks, deepfakes, and disinformation easier, and rapidly increase the capabilities of cybercriminals.

Attention was drawn to the fact that the same technology increases the risk of malicious use in attacks targeting critical infrastructure such as hospitals, financial institutions, and energy grids.
