Central Government Budget Deficit Reached 338.7 Billion Lira in April

According to data announced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the central government budget deficit was 338.7 billion TL in April, and the total deficit for the January-April period stood at 758.8 billion TL.

April Revenue and Expenditure Balance

In April, central government budget expenditures materialized at the level of 1 trillion 524.9 billion TL, while budget revenues were recorded as 1 trillion 186.2 billion TL.

Current Status of the Primary Balance

During the relevant period, primary budget expenditures were 1 trillion 267.3 billion TL, while the primary deficit was calculated as 81.1 billion TL.

Revenue Increase Compared to Last Year

Budget revenues, which were 957 billion 413 million TL in April 2025, increased by 23.9 percent in the same month of 2026, rising to 1 trillion 186 billion 164 million TL.

January-April Total Period Data

Across the first four-month period of the year, central government budget expenditures materialized at 5 trillion 950.3 billion TL, and budget revenues at the level of 5 trillion 191.5 billion TL.

During this process, while the total budget deficit reached 758.8 billion TL, primary budget expenditures were recorded as 4 trillion 816.6 billion TL and the primary surplus as 374.9 billion TL.

Budget Evaluation from Minister Şimşek

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek emphasized that budget performance has followed a course compatible with targets, stating that the primary budget balance achieved an annual improvement of 536 billion liras in the first 4 months despite all challenging conditions.
