National Solidarity Bill Accepted in the Turkish Grand National Assembly
The framework bill voted on in the General Assembly of Parliament was approved with a broad political consensus, completing the legislative process.
The Bill on the Strengthening of National Solidarity and Social Integration became law with 467 affirmative votes as a result of the voting held in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
General Assembly Voting Results
According to the final official voting results of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, a total of 563 votes were cast and the bill received 467 affirmative votes.
While the voting yielded 87 rejections, 7 abstentions, and 2 duplicate votes, the participation rates of the parties varied.
Party Vote Distribution
While the DEM Party cast 55 affirmative votes, the MHP cast 44 affirmative votes, and 29 affirmative votes came from the CHP benches.
In the New Party group, 54 deputies voted against, while 35 deputies voted in favor.
IYI Party Opposition
During the negotiations, the IYI Party group entered the General Assembly hall with Turkish flags and crescent-and-star scarves.
The opposition dissenting opinion exceeding 400 pages prepared by the party significantly increased the total page count of the committee report.
Handshake in Parliament
Following the adoption of the law, MHP Leader Devlet Bahçeli went to the DEM Party benches and shook hands with the Co-Chairpersons.
