Agri Mollakara Gold Mine Commences Operations

The Ağrı Mollakara Gold Mine, built by Turkish Gold Enterprises in the Diyadin district of Ağrı, opened its doors with an official ceremony. Speaking at the opening, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that mining is of critical importance for the country's economy and employment.

Opening Ceremony Held

The opening ceremony of the Ağrı Mollakara Gold Mine, established in the Diyadin district of Ağrı, was held with high attendance.

The program began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by the screening of an introductory video about Turkish Gold Enterprises and the mining site.

Economic Importance of Mining

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz emphasized that we must bring our own resources into the economy with high added value.

Yılmaz stated that, unlike other sectors, mining exports are sourced entirely from our own lands and have a net positive effect.

Technical Capacity of the Facility

Cahit Tokmak, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Turkish Gold Enterprises, stated that the facility has an EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) area of 4,700 decares.

It was announced that the Mollakara site was designed as a regional center with a crushing and screening capacity of 958 tons per hour.

Reserve and Production Targets

It was reported that the site has a strong potential with reserves exceeding 471,000 ounces and an additional resource base of 536,000 ounces.

It was announced that the investment amount is 250 million dollars and that approximately 1 ton of gold is targeted to be produced this year.

Contribution to Current Account Balance

It is projected that nearly 17 tons of gold production will be realized over the planned 5-year period.

It was stated that the facility will single-handedly increase Turkey's gold production by 10 percent and contribute 2.5 billion dollars to the current account balance.
