New Regulation on Foreign Player Rule in Turkish Cup

The Turkish Football Federation has introduced a new regulation regarding the foreign player rule, valid for the Turkish Cup, granting clubs the right to play their foreign football players who were left out of the squad or out of the list in cup matches.

New Foreign Player Decision for the Turkish Cup

The Turkish Football Federation has implemented a new regulation specific to the Turkish Cup regarding the foreign player rule, and this decision, which provides flexibility to clubs in squad planning, has been announced to the public.

In accordance with the decision taken, clubs will be able to play some of their foreign football players in Turkish Cup matches that they could not include in the A team list, within the framework of specified conditions.

Conditions Determined for the Süper Lig and 1st League

Trendyol Süper Lig and Trendyol 1st League clubs will be able to utilize some of their football players whose contracts continue and whom they could not include in the A team list in Turkish Cup matches.

The new application will be valid for football players who are in the squads of the clubs and whose contracts continue as of August 26, 2026.

Match Name List and Limitations

Trendyol Süper Lig clubs will not be able to write more than 14 foreign national football players on the match name list of Turkish Cup matches.

Trendyol 1st League clubs, on the other hand, will be able to write a maximum of 8 foreign football players on the match name list, and a maximum of 6 of these football players will be able to take the field at the same time.

Süper Lig Rule Remained Fixed

This new regulation made by the TFF covers only Turkish Cup matches, and no changes have been made to the existing foreign player rule in the Süper Lig.
