Slack has announced the launch of dedicated channels where users can collaborate on joint projects with AI agents. This innovation allows teams to code directly within the application without shuttling back and forth between different platforms.
The new system comes with features such as project-focused open code channels and a dedicated user tab. It also offers the ability to compare code changes and preview HTML outputs before projects are completed.
Working Directly with AI Agents
When a new feature needs to be developed or a bug fixed, teams can tag coding agents such as Anthropic's Claude or Cognition's Devin. The agent instantly creates a private code channel to take over the task.
In these channels, everyone can view the conversation history, audit code diffs, access live previews of the agent's outputs, and provide feedback before the work is approved.
Automatic Archiving and Integration Options
Coding channels feature the ability to automatically archive when their assigned tasks are completed, and they provide a detailed audit log for record-keeping purposes.
Slack Code is accessible starting today on all Slack plans, and it works integrated with AI agents from founding partners such as Claude Code, Devin, Vercel Agent, and GitHub Copilot.
