Turkey Issues Warning to Israel on Syria at the United Nations Security Council

During his speech at the UN Security Council meeting, Turkey's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Yıldız, emphasized that Israel's attacks on Syria must come to an end, while stating that they welcomed the US decision to remove Syria from the terror list.

Turkey's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Yıldız, evaluated developments in the region during the UN Security Council meeting where the current situation in the Middle East was addressed. Touching upon the importance of recent legal regulations within the country, Yıldız stated that Syria has taken resolute steps on the path to stability.
Strong Reaction to Israel's Attacks
Noting that the steps taken by Syria are being attempted to be hindered by Israel, Ambassador Yıldız stated that reckless attacks undermine the positive trajectory. Emphasizing that the airstrikes targeting the Abu al-Duhur Airbase constitute a violation of sovereignty, Yıldız demanded that Israel comply with the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement.
Support for the US Decision
Ambassador Yıldız announced that they welcomed the US administration's decision to remove Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. He stated that this constructive approach will give momentum to Syria's economic recovery efforts and strengthen its international standing.
Institutional Cooperation and Reconstruction
Stating that trust in state institutions in Syria needs to be strengthened, Yıldız noted that they found the visit of International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi positive. He expressed that reconstruction efforts must be supported for the establishment of lasting peace and stability.
Turkey's Military Activities and Stance
Stating that military activities in Syria are not directed against any third country nor do they constitute a threat, Yıldız conveyed that Turkey will continue to stand by the Syrian people. Turkey will continue to defend the unity and territorial integrity of Syria.
