Support Following the Election

Right-wing Senator Flavio Bolsonaro announced on Thursday in Brazil that he received endorsement from author and psychiatrist Augusto Cury, who finished third in the first round of elections.

Following reports in local media, Flavio Bolsonaro shared a video on his social media accounts announcing Cury's support with the public.

Cury's Vote Share in the First Round

Participating in the elections from the Avante party, Augusto Cury took third place in the race by receiving 2.89 percent of the valid votes in the first round.

Avoiding a political alignment on the left or right, Cury had conducted his campaign around the slogan "Focused on what matters".

Stances of Other Candidates

Ronaldo Caiado, who was among the top five candidates receiving the highest votes in the first round, had announced his support for Bolsonaro earlier in the week.

Another figure, Renan Santos, publicly announced that he would not support any of the candidates.

Latest Situation Before the Runoff

Flavio Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, exceeded expectations in the first round by securing 47.03 percent of the vote and placed ahead of Lula, who received 45.16 percent.
