Bursa Technical University to end cable clutter in health monitoring
Bursa Technical University has become a partner in the MORPHEUS Project, which aims to monitor patients' health data through a single wearable platform.
Within the scope of the European Union-backed international MORPHEUS Project, Bursa Technical University will develop next-generation biosensor technology that will enable patients' health data to be tracked through a single wearable platform instead of numerous cables.
Details of the International Project
Bursa Technical University has become one of the 14 international partners of the MORPHEUS project, supported under Horizon Europe, the European Union's research and innovation program. The four-year project activities are led by Prof. Dr. Ayşe Bedeloğlu, a faculty member in the Department of Polymer Materials Engineering.
Goal of a New Era in Health Technologies
The numerous sensors and cables used in intensive care units and situations requiring continuous monitoring restrict patients' movements. The MORPHEUS Project aims to gather these different sensors on a flexible wearable platform to monitor data continuously.
Special Polymer Material to Be Developed
Bursa Technical University's role in the project will be to develop a special polymer material that will form the basis of the biosensor platform. The material, to be produced with bio-based raw materials, aims to be flexible, durable, and compatible with the human body.
International Academic Collaboration
In the Bursa Technical University team, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasin Altın and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Ünsal take part in the project, while Prof. Dr. İsmet Kaya from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University also contributes. The coordination is led by Prof. Dr. Teresa Gatti from Politecnico di Torino.
