A comprehensive disaster and drill based on a 7.6 magnitude earthquake scenario centered in Kütahya was carried out in Konya to increase the capacity of health services against potential disasters.

Comprehensive Disaster Drill

Konya, one of the most critical health centers of the Central Anatolia Region, implemented a massive field application aimed at strengthening its defense line against potential major destructions. Centering the city's strategic location, this comprehensive drill tested how health facilities would be transformed into emergency response bases in the event of a possible crisis.

7.6 Magnitude Earthquake Scenario

In the plot forming the backbone of the application, a severe 7.6 magnitude earthquake affecting the fault lines of Kütahya and Eskişehir was scripted. The goal was to ensure that health services are not disrupted during the disaster and to increase response capacity.

Evacuation of Meram State Hospital

Meram State Hospital, one of the city's main health bases, transferred its existing patients to safe areas according to the scenario and completely opened its doors to severe cases coming from outside. The hospital's evacuation operation was carried out meticulously.

Field Hospitals and Mobile Units

Reception and triage operations of severely injured patients transferred from the disaster area by aircraft were carried out. Field hospitals were established around the hospital, and mobilized medical units acted simultaneously.

Multidisciplinary Crisis Management

The drill was successfully completed as a broad-participation crisis management with the joint participation of UMKE teams, emergency health workers, security forces, and university students.
