Heavy Fine Imposed on Healthcare Facility for Illegal Medical Waste Disposal
An administrative fine amounting to millions of liras has been levied against a private healthcare facility that burned and disposed of pharmaceuticals and medical waste improperly, and was found to have repeated this violation multiple times.
A private healthcare facility, which was determined to have illegally burned and disposed of pharmaceutical and medical waste in the garden of a private property, has been subjected to a total administrative fine of 501 million 568 thousand liras, taking its previous violations into account.
Detection of Illegal Waste Burning
Teams from the Elazığ Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change determined in May that a private healthcare facility was transporting pharmaceutical and hospital waste in violation of regulations and burning it in the garden of a private property.
Initial Inspection and First Fine
Following the initial inspections, an administrative fine of 47 million 206 thousand 354 liras was imposed on the healthcare facility involved in the illegal waste disposal process.
Judicial Investigation and New Findings
Detailed examinations carried out within the scope of the ongoing judicial investigation revealed that the same institution had disposed of medical waste collected from three separate branches on different dates throughout 2025 by burning it using a similar method.
Camera and GSM Records
It was reported that the irregularities and violations identified during the investigation were clearly established thanks to camera recordings and GSM data.
Application of Massive Fine
Acting upon notifications received from judicial authorities, teams from the Elazığ Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change issued a total administrative fine of 501 million 568 thousand liras to the company's three healthcare facilities in accordance with the relevant articles of Environment Law No. 2872.
