Fabric Quality and Health Complaints

Complaints continue to be received stating that the duty uniforms distributed to healthcare workers pose various problems in terms of breathability, perspiration, moisture retention, and skin health.

Applications Made to the Ministry

The union reported that it applied to the Ministry of Health on July 13, 2026, requesting the preparation of a binding technical specification on a national scale.

Correspondence and Expectations

Although it was evaluated in the Ministry correspondence that a general specification could be prepared, it was stated that a binding national specification has not yet been put into effect.

Laboratory Results and Uncertainties

It was noted that comprehensive laboratory results of the current uniforms were not shared, and it was not explained how irritation and allergic complaints would be evaluated.

Central Board of Directors Decision

With the decision of the Central Board of Directors dated September 22, 2026, the union decided to continue the protest of not wearing scrubs until the safety of the uniforms is proven.

TÜBİTAK Examination and Evaluation

While information was included that TÜBİTAK's initial examination found the products to be in compliance with the existing specification, it was emphasized that the specification is not sufficient for working conditions.

The Union's Core Demands

Hekim Birliği demands the preparation of minimum technical specifications, the inspection of uniforms through independent methods, and the replacement of unsuitable products.
