Mazlum Abdi Announced: SDF Has Ended and Joined the Syrian Army
The independent military presence of the SDF, which controls northern and eastern Syria, has come to an end. Under the agreement, the military forces, including the YPG, have been integrated into the brigades of the Syrian army.
Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) General Commander Mazlum Abdi announced that the SDF's existence as an independent military structure has ended and the integration of its forces into the Syrian army has been completed. Meeting with President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Damascus, Abdi stated that the forces were not disbanded but rather incorporated into army brigades.
Critical Summit in Damascus
SDF General Commander Mazlum Abdi met with President Ahmed al-Sharaa at the People's Palace in Damascus. Following the meeting, it was announced that the SDF has ended its activities as an independent military structure.
Integration Process into the Army
The SDF forces, which played a significant role in the fight against ISIS and held military control in northern and eastern Syria, were not disbanded. Instead, they were incorporated into the existing brigades of the Syrian army, including YPG elements.
Administrative and Political Status Uncertain
Talks between the Damascus administration and the Northern and Eastern Syria administration regarding the unification of security institutions and administrative arrangements are ongoing. However, the final political and administrative status of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has not yet been clarified.
