New regulation from the Ministry of Health for prescribed medications and home healthcare services
A new system is being prepared that removes the requirement for patients using prescribed medications with medical reports to visit a doctor every three months just for a prescription.
Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu announced that they are working on a new system that will allow patients using prescribed medications with reports to obtain their drugs directly from pharmacies without having to visit a doctor every three months for a prescription renewal, provided there are no changes in their treatment.
New Convenience in Obtaining Prescribed Medications with Reports
Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu announced that an important study concerning citizens who use regular medications is underway. The goal is to eliminate the requirement for patients whose treatments remain unchanged to visit a doctor every three months just to have a prescription written.
Thanks to the planned new system, patients will be able to manage their prescription renewal procedures directly through pharmacies without needing to go to the hospital.
Home Healthcare Services Being Restructured
Home healthcare services, which have been operating in Turkey since 2005, have entered a comprehensive transformation process. Home healthcare, telehealth, palliative care, and family medicine will work in a coordinated manner.
It was reported that home healthcare coordination centers have been established across the country to ensure these four structures work in harmony.
Palliative Critical Care Units
Special areas have been established for patients who have completed intensive care treatment but live connected to devices or still require intensive care support. A total of 747 palliative critical care units have been designated across Turkey.
The conditions of patients discharged from palliative wards to their homes are monitored remotely via electronic systems, and this practice is planned to be expanded in the near future.
Home Services for Citizens Over 80
Procedures such as medication procurement, medical supplies, and health reports for individuals aged 80 and over have begun to be arranged directly in their homes.
Additionally, the authorities of family physicians to prescribe medications as well as prepare medication and supply reports have been expanded.
