New Regulation Preparation by the Ministry of Health for Prescription Drugs
The Ministry of Health is establishing a system to remove the obligation for patients with chronic prescriptions whose treatments remain unchanged to visit a doctor just to renew their prescriptions.
Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu announced that they are working on a new system allowing patients with prescriptions whose treatments remain unchanged to obtain their medications directly from the pharmacy without needing to visit a doctor to renew their prescriptions.
Step Forward for Convenience in Prescription Drugs
Processes are being simplified for patients with prescriptions whose treatments have not undergone any changes. The Ministry is preparing to implement a new practice that will eliminate the obligation for patients to visit a doctor every three months to renew prescriptions.
Within this scope, eligible patients will be able to obtain their medications directly from pharmacies, aiming to reduce congestion in healthcare institutions.
Home Healthcare and Coordination Centers
Home healthcare services have been restructured and their scope expanded. Home health coordination centers have been established to enable elderly and bedridden individuals to access healthcare services without needing to go to the hospital.
Additionally, it was reported that medications, supplies, and disability health reports for citizens over the age of 80 have started to be issued directly in their homes.
Palliative Care and Remote Monitoring
Special palliative critical care areas have been designated for patients discharged from intensive care. Palliative care bed capacity across Turkey has reached 8,618.
It was noted that patients undergoing treatment during this process can be closely monitored through remote health services.
Authorities of Family Physicians Expanded
Within the framework of the tiered structuring of healthcare services, the duties falling under the scope of family physicians have been updated. The total number of medications that family physicians can prescribe has been increased.
With these regulations, it is aimed for citizens to benefit more effectively and quickly from primary healthcare services.
