The new regulation published in the Official Gazette redefines the obligations of social network providers regarding child users, introducing mandatory age verification and segregated services.

Age Limits and Age Verification Process

Social network providers will not be able to offer services to children under the age of 15, while users between the ages of 15 and 18 will be provided with segregated services specifically tailored for children.

While obtaining an age verification token via the e-Government Gateway is mandatory when creating a new account, verification for existing accounts must be completed by March 31, 2027.

Effective Date and Security Measures

Within the scope of this regulation, which will enter into force on November 1, 2026, important measures are included, such as child accounts being private and the inability to start live broadcasts.

Additionally, the ban on addictive consecutive visual feeds and behavioral profiling-based advertisements is among the new rules.
