NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel reminded that on September 21, they petitioned the Constitutional Court with a request for a stay of execution regarding the regulation on access restrictions brought against social media and news sites. Özel announced to the public that they will be in front of the Constitutional Court tomorrow at 12:00 PM to draw attention to the issue.
Internet Restrictions and Criticism of Authority
Citing data from the Freedom of Expression Association, Özgür Özel stated that in September, access restrictions were imposed on numerous social media accounts, news sites, and non-governmental organizations. Criticizing the transfer of such restriction powers to the Cyber Security Presidency, Özel called on the Constitutional Court to exercise its power to stay execution.
School Safety and Measures Not Taken
Touching upon security vulnerabilities in educational institutions during his speech, Özel drew attention to the knife incident at Başakşehir İmam Hatip High School. Arguing that expert sergeants should be evaluated as security guards in schools, the leader stated that the online sale of bulletproof school bags indicates that security problems are not being resolved.

Touching upon the livelihood difficulties experienced by citizens during his market visits in Artvin and Rize, Özgür Özel criticized the inflation data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute. Emphasizing that food inflation in particular remains at high levels, Özel said that economic hardships are wearing the public down.

Commemorating retired police officer Ali Şekeroğlu, who ended his life in front of the Constitutional Court last week, Özgür Özel drew attention to the unresolved problems of retirees and law enforcement personnel. He stated that the grievances experienced by these segments must be addressed.
