During the Divan Board meeting held ahead of Galatasaray's UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona, the club's low broadcast revenues and the financial gulf between it and its rivals became a subject of discussion.

Financial Picture Raised at the Divan Board

At Galatasaray's recent Divan Board meeting, the club's financial structure and broadcast revenues were addressed in detail.

Broadcast Revenues Emphasized by Mete İkiz

Divan Board member Mete İkiz stated in his speech at the meeting that while increases were in good shape, broadcast revenues remained at an extremely disappointing level.

İkiz expressed that the fact that a major club like Galatasaray receives a broadcast revenue of 16 million Euros despite being champions for four years is a bleeding wound of Turkish football.

Revenue Comparison with European Clubs

According to data shared at the meeting, broadcast revenues of clubs in Europe's leading leagues have reached striking dimensions.

In the Premier League, Arsenal earns 198.7 million Euros, in Serie A Inter earns 80.2 million Euros, and in the Bundesliga Bayern Munich earns 83.4 million Euros in broadcast revenue.

France's Ligue 1 champion PSG, on the other hand, generates between 70 and 75 million Euros in revenue from broadcasting rights.

The Massive Gap with Barcelona

Board members questioned how Galatasaray, which earns 16 million Euros from broadcasting, would compete with Barcelona, which generates 160 million Euros in revenue.

It was emphasized that the yellow-red team will face its UEFA Champions League opponent not only in sporting terms but also against these colossal economic figures.
