Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak visited the Istanbul Park track ahead of the Formula 1 races that Turkey will host starting in 2027. Inspecting the preparations on-site, Minister Bak met with national athletes and drove a vehicle on the track.
Istanbul Park Visit and Preparation Audit
Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak visited Istanbul Park to inspect the ongoing works ahead of the Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix, scheduled to be held from October 1 to 3, 2027.
Turkish Automobile Sports Federation President Eren Üçlertoprağı was also present during the visit, and detailed information about the works was received from officials.
Met with National Athletes
During his inspections at the facility, Minister Osman Aşkın Bak met with national athlete Ali Türkkan, the FIA 2026 Junior World Rally Champion, and drift athlete Abbas Çimen.
Chatting with the athletes for a while, Minister Bak then put on a racing suit and helmet to share in the excitement of the track.
Became Co-Pilot on the Rally Course
Minister Bak first took the co-pilot seat next to Junior World Rally Champion Ali Türkkan on the rally course within Istanbul Park.
During this tour held on the special dirt-surfaced stage, Minister Bak had the opportunity to closely experience the excitement of rallying.
Drift Experience and Behind the Wheel
Following the rally tour, Minister Osman Aşkın Bak got into the vehicle driven by drift athlete Abbas Çimen and experienced the excitement of drifting with the experienced pilot.
Thanking the athletes in question, Minister Bak then took the driver's seat himself along with TOSFED President Eren Üçlertoprağı to take a tour of the track.
Modernization Works Discussed
After the completion of the track driving, the modernization works to be carried out at Istanbul Park were laid on the table and the details were discussed.
