The French team Monaco Basket, which competed in the EuroLeague last season, has announced following recent developments that it has filed for bankruptcy and paused its basketball operations.

Bankruptcy and suspension of operations

In an official statement made by the club, it was announced to the public that despite all efforts made, a bankruptcy filing has been made and operations have been suspended for a period.

The club, which will enter a restructuring process, stated that it hopes to revive the project at a later date.

Won trophies and achievements

The Monaco team previously achieved three French league championships, four Leaders Cups, two French Cups, and one Super Cup victory.

Showing a Final Four success twice in the five seasons it took part in the EuroLeague, the team also achieved playing in the final once.

The club recalled that the EuroCup championship won in 2021 brought the Principality of Monaco its first European trophy in team sports.

In the statement, special emphasis was placed on the support given by the fans to the club, stating that the bond formed was much more valuable than the trophies won.

A strong wish was expressed for the red-and-white team to reunite with its fans at Salle Gaston Médecin in the future.
