The 11th Konya Science Festival (BilimFest), organized by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, has opened its doors to visitors. Held in the open area of the Konya Science Center, Turkey's first and largest TÜBİTAK-supported science center, the giant organization brings together tens of thousands of visitors with national technology initiative products, sky shows, and scientific activities.
Official Opening and Intense Interest
Hosted by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, the 11th Konya Science Festival, which opened its doors on Friday, August 21, is being held in the 100,000-square-meter open area of the Konya Science Center. The official opening of the festival was held with the participation of Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi and Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay. Attracting intense interest since its first day, the event welcomes tens of thousands of science and technology enthusiasts from both Konya and surrounding provinces.
Visual Feast in the Sky
One of the most popular events of the festival was the aerobatic show performed by the Turkish Stars within the Turkish Air Force. Performing synchronized maneuvers in the skies of Konya, the Turkish Stars gave the audience thrilling moments with their high-speed passes and close flights. In addition, the synchronized drone show of 1,000 drones, held for the first time this year, received great acclaim from the visitors.
National Defense Industry on the Field
Turkey's leading defense industry and technology organizations are also participating in BilimFest. Visitors, who have the opportunity to closely examine the products of national brands such as ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, TUSAŞ, and BAYKAR, experience many technologies ranging from unmanned aerial vehicles to national defense vehicles. Children and young people, on the other hand, have the chance to get to know these companies and their technologies more closely thanks to the organized workshops.
Target of 400 Thousand Visitors
The organization, which is Turkey's largest science festival, aims to host 400,000 visitors this year. Within the scope of the festival, in addition to over 200 scientific events, numerous educational and entertaining activities such as hands-on workshops, planetarium screenings, simulators, competitions, and digital experience areas meet with enthusiasts.
