AI Survey in the US: 73 Percent of the Public Perceives a Threat

Scope of the Survey and General Rates
A total of 1,202 participants were included in the survey conducted by Quinnipiac University. During the research, participants were asked in detail about their views regarding artificial intelligence.
Concern Levels and Opinion Distribution
According to the survey results, 38 percent of participants stated that they are very concerned about the potential threat of artificial intelligence to human existence. Those who expressed being somewhat concerned stood at 35 percent, alongside the 25 percent segment who reported feeling no concern.
Security Standards and Executive Trust
A vast majority of 86 percent of participants supported making it mandatory for companies to meet independent security standards, even if it would slow down the development of artificial intelligence. Additionally, the proportion of those lacking trust in executives drew attention.
Perception of Harm in Daily Life
The proportion of those stating they have very little or no trust in the executives of artificial intelligence companies reached 74 percent. Meanwhile, the rate of those thinking that the technology will cause more harm than good in daily life was recorded as 53 percent.
