Head of the Defense Industry Prof. Dr. Görgün announced that technology roadmaps have been prepared for the development of critical systems and sub-components using domestic resources in order to strengthen technological independence in the Turkish defense industry.

Technological Independence and Strategic Plans

In his interview with Radyo D, Head of the Defense Industry Prof. Dr. Görgün evaluated localization strategies and technology acquisition processes. He stated that they handle the technologies needed by Turkey in land, naval, air, and space domains within the framework of strategic plans aimed at increasing resilience against supply restrictions.

Critical Materials and Roadmaps

It was stated that localization activities in defense industry projects begin at the original design phase. It was emphasized that sub-components of the systems to be developed are also evaluated in terms of domestic production opportunities, and technology roadmaps extending to the synthesis and production of critical materials are created.

Increase in Localization Rate and International Interest

It was stated that the localization rate in the Turkish defense industry has risen from 20 percent to 83 percent over the last 20 years. It was noted that this development has increased international interest in Turkey's production and technology development capacity.
