Deputy Prime Minister Dung Sets Strategic Technology Product Target

At a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung, it was decided that ministries and agencies should accelerate their strategic technology development tasks and possess several strategic technology products by the end of 2026.

Background and Objectives of the Meeting

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung, who also serves as the Head of the Task Force for Science, Technology, Innovation, and Strategic Technology Development, chaired a thematic meeting at the Government headquarters.

Status of Technology Files

According to data released by the Ministry of Science and Technology, 27 out of 28 strategic technology files belonging to 10 ministries and agencies have gone through the evaluation process.

Although there are 28 strategic technology task proposals with an estimated budget of approximately 5.3 trillion VND, no tasks have been officially approved yet due to delays in the approval stage.

Local Proposals and Fields

It was stated that the 85 proposals submitted by local governments focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, UAVs, blockchain, and biotechnology, but these proposals are still in the initial stage.

New Schedule and Instructions

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung requested the relevant ministries to approve tasks meeting the appropriate conditions by August 28 and to complete the remaining processes by September 5.

It was also emphasized that the duplication of resources must be prevented and priority should be given to missing strategic technology subjects.
