Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung sets strategic technology target by the end of 2026
The government aims to achieve concrete products by the end of the year by accelerating strategic technology development projects. Relevant ministries have entered a busy work schedule to complete approval processes.
During a meeting to evaluate the progress of strategic technology development tasks, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung instructed that strategic technology products be achieved by the end of 2026. The goal is to accelerate approval processes for projects whose legal infrastructure has been completed.
Current status of strategic technology projects
According to the report presented by the Ministry of Science and Technology, as of August 2026, the legal framework and organizational infrastructure have been largely completed. Twenty-eight strategic technology proposals from ten ministries and agencies were reviewed and taken into the evaluation processes.
Schedule set for approval processes
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung stated that 9 files whose reviews have been completed must be approved by August 28, and 13 tasks currently in the evaluation stage must be approved by September 5. It is planned to reach technological targets by accelerating these processes.
Promising technology fields
Eighty-five different proposals were received from local authorities in critical areas such as UAVs, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and gene technology. These projects are expected to play a key role in increasing the country's technological independence and strategic capacity.
