Google has announced a new feature that allows Pixel 11 users to hand over phone calls with local businesses to the Gemini AI. This system makes it easy to complete tasks such as making reservations, checking product availability, or rescheduling appointments.

How the Process Works

Users do not need to initiate the call themselves; instead, they can use the Gemini app on their Pixel device to ask the assistant to make the call on their behalf. Gemini calls the business, introduces itself, navigates automated phone menus, and even stays on the line during hold times to manage the conversation with the other party.

Live Tracking and Control Capability

Users remain in full control throughout the entire process via a live transcript view, and they can personally take over the call at any moment they choose. Google announced a similar "Call for me" feature last year, but users did not have the option to take over those calls.

Availability and Access

Google's new AI-based calling feature is rolling out as an early preview for Gemini paid subscribers enrolled in the Phone by Google Public Beta program on Pixel 11 devices in the US.
