HackAlem AI Event in Kazakhstan Breaks Guinness Record

The HackAlem artificial intelligence hackathon held in Astana, Kazakhstan, brought together thousands of students and young people from around the world to break a new Guinness World Record.

Record Participation Event in Astana

The HackAlem AI hackathon, held in Kazakhstan's capital Astana, broke the Guinness World Record as the agentic AI hackathon held with the most participants.

The five-hour organization brought together 2,415 participants from 21 countries and 219 universities.

Previous Record and Verification Process

The previous record was set in Hyderabad, India, on December 21, 2025, with 2,089 participants.

The new record was officially verified at the event venue by Guinness World Records adjudicator Glenn Pollard.

Ministry Support and Educational Resources

The event was organized as part of AI Month, implemented by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development.

Participants were provided access to technology and educational resources totaling $1.5 million in value.

International Partners and Future Goals

While Arizona State University (ASU) participated as a partner and sponsor of the event, global technology organizations such as OpenAI also provided support.

All participants were awarded ASU digital badges and given the opportunity to enroll in an entrepreneurship course.
