OYAK General Manager Murat Yalçıntaş drew attention to the strategic importance of the HY-100 steel, specially produced for the National Submarine Project, during his evaluations within the scope of TEKNOFEST Southeast.

Strategic Statements at TEKNOFEST Southeast

Taking its place at TEKNOFEST Southeast, which started at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport, OYAK showcased its projects within the technology ecosystem.

During his evaluations within the scope of the festival, OYAK General Manager Murat Yalçıntaş conveyed the institution's position in the field of technology with its 189 companies operating in 30 countries.

HY-100 Steel Developed for MİLDEN

It was stated that iron ores extracted from Sivas, Malatya, and Bingöl are processed in the facilities in Ereğli and İskenderun and brought into the defense industry.

It was emphasized that thanks to the use of the high-strength HY-100 steel produced at the Ereğli facilities in the National Submarine Project, submarines will be able to dive deeper than normal.

Position Among Countries with Limited International Access

It was noted that producing this qualified steel quality domestically—which is not provided when sought to be procured from abroad—is critical for defense independence.

It was announced that with investments to be made in Romanian facilities, the electrical steel thickness will be reduced to 0.1 millimeters, making Turkey one of the few countries in the world in this field.

Widespread Use in Defense and Civilian Fields

It was stated that OYAK focuses on dual-use technologies appealing to both civilian and defense fields, and carries out production within this scope at Ereğli and the Miilux OY facilities in Manisa.

It was disclosed that the produced steels are utilized in the national aircraft carrier, the national submarine, the ALTAY tank, land vehicles, and various civilian sectors such as mining.
