Meteorology Issues Warning for Heavy Rain and Storms Across Turkey

The General Directorate of Meteorology announced that partly cloudy weather and local showers are expected across the country, with winds blowing at storm force in some regions.

According to the latest evaluations by the General Directorate of Meteorology, partly to mostly cloudy weather will prevail across Turkey, with local showers and thunderstorms affecting many regions.

Weather Across the Country

Precipitation is expected in the southern and eastern parts of Marmara, the Aegean, the Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, the Black Sea, the western part of Eastern Anatolia, and Southeastern Anatolia.

In addition, local showers and thunderstorms are forecasted around Istanbul, Kırklareli, Erzurum, Kars, Ardahan, Iğdır, and Muş.

Regions Expected to Experience Heavy Rain

The precipitation is expected to be heavy in the northeastern parts of Marmara, the Eastern Mediterranean coasts, and the Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts.

Heavy rainfall is also anticipated in Sinop, Ardahan, the coastal sections of Kastamonu, the eastern part of Çanakkale, and the north of Balıkesir and Bursa.

Temperature and Wind Conditions

While no significant change is expected in air temperatures, they are forecasted to continue running below seasonal norms across the country.

The wind is generally expected to blow lightly to moderately from the north, and from the southern directions in the southern regions.

Short-Term Storm Warning

The wind is predicted to blow strongly and as short-term storms from the northern directions in Marmara, the Coastal Aegean, and the Eastern Black Sea coasts.

It is estimated that the storm speed may range between 40 and 70 kilometers per hour.

Precautions Against Adverse Conditions

Meteorology emphasized that citizens must be cautious and prepared against potential adverse conditions such as sudden floods, waterlogging, and disruptions in transportation.
