During a special session held within the scope of the 77th International Astronautical Congress continuing at the Antalya NEST Congress Center, NASA officials shared preliminary findings and initial data regarding the Artemis II mission.

International Astronautical Congress Continues in Antalya

The 77th International Astronautical Congress, organized under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and hosted by the Turkish Space Agency and SAHA Istanbul, is taking place at the Antalya NEST Congress Center. A session was held within the scope of the congress where initial information about the Artemis II mission was released.

NASA Officials Participating in the Session

NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson, Science Mission Directorate Associate Administrator Nicola Fox, Human Spaceflight Associate Administrator Lori Glaze, and Artemis Science Flight Operations Lead Kelsey Young took part as speakers in the session.

Work Continues for Artemis III

NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson stated that work for Artemis III is ongoing for the year 2027. Anderson expressed that each mission contributes to humanity's return to the lunar surface and the establishment of a permanent presence.

Effects of Deep Space on the Human Body

Lori Glaze emphasized that Artemis investigations will expand the understanding of the effects of deep space on the human body. She stated that this mission will be beneficial in grasping the complex interaction between Earth, the Moon, and the Solar System.

The Journey of the Orion Spacecraft

Nicola Fox conveyed that the journey undertaken by the Artemis II crew was exciting. The power outage experienced when the Orion spacecraft passed to the far side of the Moon and subsequent developments were shared with the participants.

Collected Data and Photographs

Kelsey Young announced that Artemis II collected over 800 megabytes of data and 12,000 photographs during its mission duration. It was stated that each of these photographs will be actively used in scientific analysis processes.
