OpenAI Hired Top Executives from Patreon for Its New Strategy
Continuing its work in the field of artificial intelligence, the company has added three key names to its staff, including Patreon's co-founder and chief technology officer, to shape its product strategy for content creators.
Ahead of upcoming announcements and new projects, OpenAI has made moves targeting the content creator ecosystem by transferring former senior executives from the Patreon platform.
Executive Transfers
OpenAI has included Sam Yam, co-founder and chief technology officer of Patreon, on its team to manage its product strategy for content creators.
Along with Sam Yam, Patreon's former chief product officer Drew Rowny and head of engineering Shannon Ma also left their positions in recent weeks to join OpenAI.
New Tools and Vision
In a statement made via social media, Sam Yam stated that they will work with content creators within OpenAI and make new tools available for early access.
These transfers indicate that the company is preparing to take new steps regarding the creator subscription economy and monetization models.
Patreon's Situation
Patreon, founded thirteen years ago, announced in January that it was reducing its headcount by twenty percent.
The departure of critical figures is considered a new loss for Patreon, which had announced a comprehensive roadmap to revamp user features.
