At the Junioruni launch event held at the Mevlana Society and Science Center in cooperation with the Bornova Municipality and the German Goethe Institute, around 60 students aged 13-16 produced hands-on projects across six different stations ranging from robotics to virtual reality.
Junioruni Launch Takes Place
The Bornova Municipality hosted the innovative Junioruni launch, bringing youth together with science and innovation. The event was held at the Mevlana Society and Science Center in cooperation with the German Goethe Institute.
In the five-hour organization attended by approximately sixty students aged between thirteen and sixteen, the scientists of the future brought their own projects to life at hands-on stations.
Hands-On Learning Model
The main objective of the organization is to offer students a learning model based on curiosity, teamwork, and practice beyond theoretical knowledge.
Acting with a team spirit, the youth found the opportunity to develop direct solutions in coding, design, and scientific research processes.
Virtual Reality and Coding
Participating students experienced interactive sessions in thirty-minute tours at specially created thematic stations.
While young people explored the depths of space using virtual reality glasses, they designed their own LED signals by programming microcontrollers at the Calliope station.
Robotics and Sustainability Studies
Algorithms for smart robots that overcome obstacles and collect objects were developed in the robotics laboratory.
At the sustainability station, the environmental impacts of daily decisions were analyzed, and participants were assigned a sustainability task.
Bridge Race and Nature Exploration
Young engineers pitted their statics knowledge against each other to build bridges capable of carrying the highest weight using limited materials.
Assuming the role of natural scientists, students learned scientific classification methods by examining leaves, pinecones, and stones with the help of magnifying glasses.
The Digital World of the Future
The Bornova Municipality continues to prepare children and youth for the digital world of the future through the Mevlana Society and Science Center.
The institution maintains its determination to expand science-infrastructure-supported events and trainings.
