South Korea's New Center Connecting Artificial Intelligence Research with Startups

South Korea has taken a new step to shorten the path from laboratory to startup by combining artificial intelligence research with industry expertise, technology transfer, and investment.
AX DeepTech Bridge Center Established
In August 2026, KAIST announced the establishment of the AX DeepTech Bridge Center platform, aiming to promote artificial intelligence-based innovation and entrepreneurship.
This initiative targets the commercialization of research results and the involvement of businesses in the technology development process.
Ministry Program and Scope
The center was launched under the workforce development program of the South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT, running from July 2026 until the end of 2031.
KAIST stated that the center is built upon the AI Hub platform and integrates artificial intelligence into semiconductors, energy systems, and healthcare.
University and Hospital Collaborations
Under this innovative program, KAIST is collaborating with POSTECH, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, and Jeonbuk National University.
