Students Meet Robot Technologies at Bursa Technical University
Middle and high school students came together at BTU within the scope of a TUBITAK-supported project, conducting hands-on studies on robot dogs and humanoid robots.
Middle and high school students in Bursa had the opportunity to closely familiarize themselves with advanced technologies such as robot dogs and humanoid robots at Bursa Technical University within the framework of a TUBITAK project.
TUBITAK-Supported Robotics Project
The project was implemented in partnership with the Bursa Technical University Robotics Technologies and Intelligent Systems Research and Application Center and the Mechatronics Engineering Department.
The first event period of the project, supported within the scope of the TUBITAK 4004 Nature Education and Science Schools Support Program, was successfully completed.
Training in University Laboratories
Students from various grade levels studying in Bursa participated in the program organized in the robotics laboratories within the BTU Mimar Sinan Campus.
Seventh and eighth-grade middle school students, as well as ninth and tenth-grade high school students, seized the opportunity to directly experience future technologies in a university environment.
Theoretical and Practical Studies
Within the scope of the project, students received comprehensive training on autonomous technologies, artificial intelligence, robotic systems, and legged robot technologies.
Participants first tested the algorithms they developed in a simulation environment and then implemented them in real time on a legged robot.
Robot Dogs and Coding
Organized in teams of four, students completed various tasks by coding the Unitree Go2 Pro-EDU model legged robot.
Additionally, the NAO humanoid robot, mobile robots, and industrial robot arms were introduced in detail to the students during the program.
Academic Staff and Participants
Assistant Professor Ekrem Düven undertook the leadership of the project, which featured a total of eighty students.
The instructional staff included experts in their fields: Prof. Dr. Gökhan Gelen, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Peker, Assistant Professor Selma Yılmazyıldız Kayaarma, and Research Assistant Dursun Alp Kızılöz.
