Türkiye’de çobanlık yapıyordu. Onu kimse tanımıyor ama sayesinde bugün o teknoloji var

Hüseyin Yılmaz, who started his education through teachers he met on the road while working as a shepherd in a village in Denizli at a young age, became one of the pioneers of voice command technologies with his international work.

Life Starting from Yumrutaş Village

Hüseyin Yılmaz was born in 1924 in the village of Yumrutaş in the Acıpayam district of Denizli. Losing his mother and father at a small age, Yılmaz started working as a shepherd without being able to go to school during the period he lived with his family.

Encounter with Teachers and Education

When the year was 1936, while grazing his goats at the age of 12, he encountered teachers having a picnic in the region. Upon the initiative of the teachers who learned that he could not read or write, he started studying at Acıpayam Gölcük Boarding Regional Secondary School.

First Steps in the Academic Field

Standing out with his interest in mathematics, Yılmaz noticed a mistake in a book he read during his high school years. His science teacher contacting Nusret Kürkçüoğlu, a physics professor at Istanbul Technical University, accelerated his academic journey.

Invitation to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

After studying electrical engineering at Istanbul Technical University, he began sharing his research with professors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Yılmaz went to the USA in 1952 upon the invitation of academics who were impressed by his approach.

Search for an Alternative to Einstein's Theory

Conducting research on the theory of gravitation, Yılmaz developed an approach that could be an alternative to Albert Einstein's theory. Although he wanted to convey the deficiencies he saw to Einstein, the famous physicist passed away before the letter reached him.

Precursor to Voice Command Technology

In the early 1960s, Hüseyin Yılmaz designed a computer operating with voice commands, taking his place among the early pioneers of today's voice-controlled technologies. Continuing his research in different countries, the scientist passed away in the USA on January 27, 2013.
