Warning of Heavy Rainfall and Temperature Drop from Meteorology and AKOM
As heavy rains affect the northern, central, and western parts of Turkey, temperatures drop by 4 to 8 degrees, and authorities have issued a call for precautions against sudden floods and waterlogging.
Following warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology and AKOM, heavy showers and thunderstorms have begun to affect the northern, central, and western regions of the country. With the rainfall expected to intensify in the afternoon, a significant drop in air temperatures is also being experienced.
Regions Affected by Heavy Rainfall
According to meteorological maps, the rainfall is projected to increase in intensity, especially after midday. Disruptions are expected in the eastern Marmara, northeastern Aegean, western parts of Western Black Sea, and northern Central Anatolia.
Air Temperatures Decreasing by 4 to 8 Degrees
Air temperatures are decreasing by 4 to 8 degrees in the northern, central, and western regions. AKOM reported that temperatures in Istanbul will range between 22-24 degrees due to the overcast sky and wind.
Rain Surprise in Istanbul During Morning Hours
With the drop in air temperatures, autumn has begun to make its presence felt. The rain that affected Istanbul during the morning hours caught citizens unprepared, while people in Taksim Square tried to protect themselves with umbrellas and coats.
Expected to Last for Three Days
According to the latest evaluations, the rainfall will continue to affect Marmara, the Aegean, the Western Mediterranean, the Taurus Mountains region, northwestern Central Anatolia, the Black Sea, and the surroundings of Erzincan and Ardahan for three days.
Flood and Waterlogging Warning from Authorities
Authorities emphasized that citizens must be cautious and take precautions against sudden floods, waterlogging, lightning, localized hail, and strong winds due to the heavy showers expected to strengthen starting from midday hours.
