359 Dead in Nepal Flash Floods
A flash flood in the Bhotekoshi River has caused massive destruction in Nepal, while search and rescue operations are intensively ongoing.
At least 359 people lost their lives and more than 1,300 others are missing in a flash flood that occurred on Wednesday morning in Nepal's Bhotekoshi River. Search and rescue operations continue in the region.
Occurrence of the Disaster
A flash flood occurred in the Bhotekoshi River at around 09:00 on Wednesday, causing widespread destruction across three districts in Nepal.
Casualties and Missing Persons
According to a statement by the Nepal Police, many people, including foreign tourists, lost their lives and went missing as a result of the disaster.
India's Missing Citizens
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that 288 Indian nationals are still missing and about 200 people performing the Mansarovar Yatra have requested evacuation.
International Aid Flights
India sent two military aircraft carrying 48 tons of supplies, including solar lamps, hygiene kits, and more than eight tons of medicines and food, to flood-hit Nepal.
Rescue and Infrastructure Efforts
In the region where bridges and roads were damaged, security forces intensified search and rescue and relief operations with helicopters and ground teams.
