According to a U.S. official, as part of the same mission, two aircraft—a C-130 cargo plane and a C-40—landed in Riga, the capital of Latvia, after which the C-130 continued on to Russia.

Data from the FlightRadar24 tracking site showed that the aircraft departed from Joint Base Andrews, a U.S. Air Force base in Maryland, on Sunday and departed Moscow on Tuesday afternoon.
